Hockey Anyone?

Starting this Tuesday, the volunteer Sports Committee is encouraging residents to get out on the lake for a game of recreational hockey each Tuesday night at 6 pm for the remainder of the skating season.  Drop by and check it out.  If you have any questions, please contact sports@mahoganyhoa.com.

Learn to Skate Open House Rescheduled

New date is January 28th from 10 am to 12 pm at the West Beach

As the weather has just started to cool sufficiently to allow for rink ice maintenance, current ice conditions are poor and it was decided to host the Open House Registration for Learn to Skate sessions in 2 weeks when the HOA Volunteer Programs Committee hope to have more optimum skating conditions for your enjoyment.  Our apologies for any disappointment.  You can register in advance for FREE Learn to Skate lessons by emailing programs@mahoganyhoa.com.

Meanwhile, the 2 rinks are now open for general member use.  Please skate with caution as this is lake ice and not the same quality ice as an indoor hockey rink.  On-going maintenance when weather permits will improve the ice surface.  The pleasure skating pathway will not be maintained until we have 16” of ice and can put the water truck on the ice surface.

Learn to Skate Registration January 14th, 2012

Your Sports and Programs HOA Committee is patiently waiting for the ice to be thick enough for skating.  Once we get the GREEN flag to show the ice is thick enough we can start skating on the lake this winter.

Are you interested in FREE Skating lessons at the Lake?

Winter will arrive eventually

For those residents anxiously awaiting the skating season, check out the lake conditions once the colder weather arrives http://www.mahoganyhoa.com/facilitiesamenities/lake-status/

You will also want to check out the recreational hockey program and the learn to skate program being offered in the New Year to residents  in Mahogany once it turns cold enough to allow maintenance of the ice surface on the lake.    If you are interested in either of these programs visit your Mahogany HOA website and let your volunteer committees know.  http://www.mahoganyhoa.com/events-programs/hoa-programs/

Merry Christmas Mahogany!

It is the start to the holiday season and I wanted to take a moment to wish you all a very Merry Christmas and a wonderful start to 2012.

Last weekend the volunteer Social Committee provided the residents with another successful annual event, the Parade of Lights.  There were over 350 members taking in the horse drawn wagon rides, carolling and enjoying many activites and delicious treats at the West Beach.  Congratulations and thanks go out to Mahogany’s amazing volunteers.

I would also like to acknowledge our generous sponsors for the evening.  Without such committed support, these events would not be possible for the enjoyment of our Mahogany residents.  We thank you so much for your support!

Sabal Homes – Horse drawn wagon rides

Hopewell – Patio heaters and carollers

James Home Marketing – Tasty treats and drinks / Prizes

Urban Properety Real Estate – Christmas Carol Song Books

Enmax – Prizes

And thank you Mahogany for lighting up your homes!  Each year will get bigger and better with your support and participation.

The residents donated 93.5 pounds of food to the Calgary Interfaith Food Bank from this event.  We want to grow this support of those in need and would eventually like to see 1 pound annually from each household donated to this worthwhile charity.  Imagine 12,000 pounds of food annually being collected in Mahogany alone once the community is built out.  Thank you for giving!
