Learn2Skate & Learn2Hockey Info!

To all the parents who registered their child into our Learn2Skate and Learn2Hockey lessons starting this Sunday Jan 14th, here you’ll find information on what to bring on the first day. Please read the message from our organizer’s in the Volunteer Committee who work really hard to make this the best skating program for Mahogany residents!

Good Day Learn2Skate Participants!

Are you excited!?! Learn2Skate is almost here!!!

We are going to be on the ice here this Sunday (ice conditions permitting)! The warm weather has not been favourable to our boarded rink and the ice is down to concrete in a couple spots. The good news is there are some cold days in the forecast this week so we should have ice come Sunday. We will send out an update closer to Sunday to let you know. The forecast for our first day is in the -8 to -2 range. Perfect weather for comfort and ice conditions!

Every week you can expect an email from us with weather and ice conditions and any other pertinent announcements.
For this week please come at least 15 minutes before your class to get signed in, a name tag on your helmet and your skates properly laced.
Being prepared is a big part of having success on the ice. Hopefully all of you have a good pair of skates and CSA approved helmet already that fit well. For instructions on how to tie skates check out this video.

Here is a pdf with information about the helmets. Please make sure to dress appropriately for the weather—few things will ruin your experience on the ice like being cold (the falls hurts more for sure).

Lvl Two: 9:30-10am
Lvl One: 10-10:30am *Reminder: Parents are expected to be on the ice with their child for lvl one
Adult: 11-11:30am
Hockey: 11am-Noon

Lake Skating Pro Tip: Get a thin head covering for your child to put under their helmet when it is cold! Something like this.
